National Archives DG Bearngar Wants Liberians to Embrace Unity, Peace, and Development
MONROVIA, Liberia — August 24, 2026: The Director General of the Center for National Documents and Records Agency, Hon. D. Nelson Bearngar, has encouraged Liberians to use the country’s 179th National Flag Day celebration to reaffirm their commitment to national unity, peace, and development.
In his Flag Day message, DG Bearngar extended heartfelt wishes to President Joseph N. Boakai Sr., Vice President Jeremiah K. Koung, members of the Legislature, the Chief Justice and Associate Justices, members of the Judiciary, and the Armed Forces of Liberia as well as Liberians at home and abroad.
He said the national flag represents far more than its colors and design, describing it as a symbol of national unity, identity, history, courage, sacrifice, and hope.
According to the National Archives Director General, the significance of Flag Day goes beyond the celebration of national colors and symbols. He said the occasion provides an opportunity for Liberians to strengthen the spirit of oneness, peace, and unity.
DG Bearngar urged citizens to view the Lone Star as a continuing symbol of hope and a reminder of their shared responsibility to build a peaceful, educated, prosperous, just, and united Liberia.
“May the flag, Lone Star, continue to shine over Liberia, and may each of us become a small but meaningful light in the work of building a more peaceful, educated, prosperous, just, and united nation,” he said.
CNDRA Director General D. Nelson Bearngar concluded his message by wishing all staff of the agency and all Liberians a happy and meaningful National Flag Day celebration.
